Supporters are the heart of WISEs. They work closely with workers with support needs (WSNs), guiding and mentoring them as they integrate into the workforce. Their role is essential, ensuring that WISEs fulfill their mission of inclusion and empowerment. Based on insights from the B-WISE strategy and supporter personas<\/a>, we can better understand their work and the challenges they face.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. The Social Oriented<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Social Oriented supporter<\/a> is usually a woman around 50 years old, with a background in social work. Her journey into WISEs often begins by chance, but she quickly finds fulfillment in helping others. She believes strongly in the power of human connection and prioritizes the well-being of those she supports. While her digital skills are average, she\u2019s optimistic about the role of technology, like online training, to make work easier for WSNs. Today, she leads a group of disadvantaged workers, helping them grow both personally and professionally. She\u2019s deeply loyal to the WISE mission and finds great meaning in her work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. The Professionally Oriented<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Professionally Oriented supporter<\/a> is often a younger woman, around 35 years old, with practical experience from various jobs. Some of them were WSNs themselves, which gives them a deep understanding of the challenges others face. They excel in their technical fields, such as maintenance or cooking, and are passionate about teaching others. Though their formal education might be limited, their skills and hands-on experience make them invaluable to the WISE. They see WISEs not just as a workplace, but as a second home where they can make a difference. They have no plans to leave and are eager to keep doing more to help others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. The Next Enablers<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Next Enablers <\/a>are typically men in their 40s with strong academic backgrounds in fields like social sciences or mental health. They\u2019ve often worked in roles such as social workers, psychologists, or HR specialists before joining WISEs. These supporters use a mix of human connection and technology to assist WSNs, helping them find and keep jobs. Their passion for social causes and their drive to see WSNs succeed make them stand out. Many are seen as future leaders within the WISE, with organizations investing in their training to prepare them for bigger roles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite their dedication, supporters often face obstacles in their work.
