ADV Romania represents a group of connected social enterprises: "Alături de Voi" Romania Foundation, UtilDeco SRL, WISE.travel SRL, JobDirect SRL, OPYA, SFA and AFIN IFN S.A., which have developed over time since 2002. Its mission is to promote and develop the social economy and ensure the inclusion of people with disabilities and other vulnerable groups. In 2016 was declared the Social Entrepreneur of the Year in the international competition EY Entrepreneur Of The Year.
ADV Romania implements programmes at the national and European level and is recognised as a resource centre in the field linking Eastern and Western Europe.
Over time, ADV Romania has developed a comprehensive ecosystem of social economy initiatives, creating innovative solutions that drive social and economic impact. Through a holistic and integrated approach, ADV Romania has established multiple social enterprises, educational programs, and financial mechanisms to support vulnerable groups, promote social entrepreneurship, and foster sustainable development.
- 2004 – The Youth Club: A day centre for children and young people from underprivileged backgrounds, including those with disabilities. The initiative focuses on developing independent living skills to break the cycle of poverty, with a strong commitment to education as a key driver of change.
- 2008 – UtilDeco: A work integration social enterprise that has created over 150 jobs, more than half of which have been for people with disabilities and other vulnerable groups. UtilDeco provides archiving and document storage services, protective and work equipment production, printing services, and workplace safety solutions.
- 2016—JobDirect is the first workplace placement and assistance agency in Romania dedicated to people with disabilities. It offers evaluation, testing, counselling, professional training, job mediation, and workplace coaching to support sustainable employment.
- 2017 – WISE.travel: A social enterprise in the tourism sector that functions as a travel broker while supporting NGOs and social businesses to strengthen local communities.
- 2018 – ADV Academy: A hub for education, research, public policies, and social innovation in the social economy field, with activities spanning Romania, the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine, and the European Union.
- 2019 – The Social Enterprises Accelerator: A grant administrator supporting the establishment and development of social enterprises, funding 42 social businesses in Romania, 5 in Moldova, and 1 in Ukraine. This initiative multiplies social enterprises and amplifies their social and economic impact on individuals, the environment, and communities.
- 2021 – OPYA: A speciality coffee roastery where social impact meets craftsmanship. OPYA empowers people from vulnerable groups and individuals with disabilities by involving them in producing and packaging premium coffee freshly roasted in Romania.
- 2022 – AFIN: Romania’s first non-banking financial institution dedicated to financing and developing social enterprises in collaboration with strategic partners.
- 2022 – Social Finance Association: Focused on driving positive social impact, this initiative facilitates access to sustainable financial solutions, promotes investments in social enterprises, and develops innovative financial models that support the economic inclusion of disadvantaged groups.
- 2025—Digital Innovation Hub: This forward-thinking initiative will integrate digital transformation and social innovation, equipping social enterprises with the tools and expertise needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving economy. It was established and developed in partnership with the Digital Innovation Zone from Iași.
ADV Romania continuously pioneers new models of social entrepreneurship, employment, and financial inclusion through these initiatives, strengthening communities and fostering sustainable impact across multiple sectors.
In the last 22 years, ADV Romania has carried out over 100 projects/programmes (33 million Euro+), financed by international organisations, the European Commission and its own funds (full reinvestment of the profits generated by the social enterprises of the group).
In 2019 ADV became the European Social Fund (ESF) grant administrator for 42 social enterprises established and developed in Romania. Also, in another European Commission project, ADV became a grant administrator for 5 social enterprises in the Republic of Moldova and 1 in Ukraine. In October 2020, together with the funded social enterprises, ADV launched a cluster organisation dedicated to social economy called “Accelerator of Social Enterprises” (over 70 institutions are members), to which it provides the administrative and managerial structure. The cluster is registered on the EU platform.
ADV has developed a cross-border centre (RO-MD-UA) for social economy and 4 Social Innovation Labs with local partners in the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine to develop the social economy sector further.
ADV is one of the founders of AFIN - the first non-bank financial institution dedicated to the social economy sector, established in April 2022 with 170 shareholders from Romania.
Moreover, through the ADV Academy, the organisation is constantly investing in education, research, public policies, and social innovation in the field of social economy.
Among its advocacy activities, ADV promotes the development of the social economy sector in Romania and the Republic of Moldova. It is part of the community of practice in the field established by the Ministry of Labour and Social Solidarity.
ADV Romania is a member of the Monitoring Committee for implementing the Cohesion Policy in the North-East Region, having the right to vote as an expert in the economic and social development of the region.
ADV Romania is a founding member of RISE - Romanian Network of Social Economy, providing the presidency for the mandate 2024-2026. He is also a founding member of FONSS, serving as its first-term president.
It is also a member of DIESES, Social Economy Europe, EASPD, ENSIE (through RISE where it is vice-president), D-WISE, Pact for Skills, National Sustainability Coalition and the French Chamber of Commerce in Romania.
